One of the best things about being an indie contractor is that I can do my own mid- and end-of-year reviews on myself. Every time I get a fantastic rating and win employee of the year every year without fail. Fantastic.

As most of my perm career up to the tipping point was in large US IT companies you can all imagine how many reviews of different flavours I had to endure... Don't miss them one little bit and you have my sympathies.

Well same here, although current employer is large French IT company. I was recently contacted about a contract and I was tempted to re-join the independent ranks, but as is normal for these roles the commute was too far and staying away from home 4 nights a week does not appeal.

I hear that...I've taken quite the pause with contracting simply because I wanted to find local work and have failed...luckily I have the "company funds" to maintain my income in the mean time but time is running out....I'll be hotel bound soon enough....

I have Middlesex and most of the Thames Valley on my doorstep (it's why we moved here) so I normally manage to avoid "suitcase" jobs. About to click over the three months off mark now, I'm getting bored, and Lady Poppy is getting twitchy so I do hope my pestering phone calls turn up something soon. Still, the weather has been nice.

Yeah, being Norwich based definitely means I have to travel, unless I am lucky to land a job in the city of which there aren't many to speak of...

It's been 3 months for me too and I've just pulled my back last week, so I can't really jump on the bike and work in a chair all day right now either; I blame getting busy too much DIY whilst off! Still the loft is now fully boarded up, the garden is looking useable again and the logs are all chopped ready for the winter..

It's strange how too much time off gets at you though, even with lovely sunny days. Most would think we're lucky to be able to take time outs but I now have this daily nagging feeling about not working (we're bred to work aye!) and it can't be healthy...

Happened upon an RTC today just as the paramedic was getting to the casualty. Fella didn't make it home.

Vegan's!

Especially when there's 4 different types of mushrooms in my fridge and milk alternatives, so there's no room for much else!

Roll on September, then I'll have a fridge with some free space

Plan B is a ride across country to Wales where we are basking in sunshine under cloudless blue skies. The birds are singing and the mountain roads are waiting!
