I finally managed to track down a 14-42 (28-84 35mm equivalent) lens for my Linux G1, as I have been mostly been using it with vintage glass. Tbh I wasn't really feeling that type of photography and wanted to use the G1 properly. Got it cheap as it was listed as having a small amount of dust in the rear element, I can't see anything wrong and it doesn't seem to have any image quality issues. Most average £40-60 but I got this for £20. It's quite a light set up compared to a DSLR and feels almost toy like.

What lens did you get - a Panasonic or a Zuiko? 14-42 is a really versatile range and it gets a lot of use on the OMD. M43 is really good if you want something compact and the Olympus easily fits into my coat pocket.

I've been trying to dismantle the Fed to clean it up and sort out the sticky shutter. I can't get the top plate off because the rangefinder lens is jammed solid and won't move. GT85, meths, acetone have all had no effect on loosening it up

Johnny is the chemist around here so I'm sure he'll have a potion recommendation for you. I got the Panasonic lens, as mentioned it was cheap and the apparent dust has no impact on the image. Got quite a few digital at the moment, D5200, TZ35, HS10, G1 and I was recently given a Nikon bridge camera. Although I lean heavily on film, sometimes I want to see the image right away. Just remembered that I still have half a roll in the Kiev 88, great fun to use but so heavy!

I got the little bezel off but I can't get the lens out. It needs removing before the top plate will come off. I thought it might be glued in but nothing's loosened it up so far and I'm wary of stripping the little lens spanner slots.

I went out early this morning and fired off half a roll testing out a Minolta XE 1

If you're stuck then perhaps just give it a bit of WD40 and let it soak. I still don't see why it has to come off first but then I don't know anything about them.
