has anyone got any recent updates on these tyres?

I was phoning around local places today to get quotes for Michelin PR3's and one of the places (Cupar Bikes) suggested the Pirelli's as they have them on sale for £209.99 for a pair fitted ride in compared to £296 for the PR3's. the bloke told me that they use them on their SV courtesy bikes.

Because it's bald?

Stupid tread patterns on some tyres, no tread in the middle so you get no warning when you're about to go into cords!

There is shed loads on the TWI's too.
Best avoid them .

It's horses for courses.
If your doing lots of sitting upright ridding ,like I do with the SV then sticky tyres just square off.
Best get a dual compound tyre.
On a sports bike used for fun(corners) then you need sticky tyres like P corsa's

I like them (on the Aprilia), but as said above, they do square if you do a lot of motorways.

Sally had a set oh his sv if I'm not mistaken, and he does most of riding scratching his foot pegs.

Any hoop will wear out allot faster as it gets less rubber, it heats up faster and no were to soak the heat away too.
A falco puts out allot of grunt so given it did 8,000miles its fair play.
But as YC noted the lack of something to show how thin its getting needs more thought.
