In the end, they got a marked car in to pull me but could do fark all, as I feared for my safety. If they hadn't acted the way they had, I never would have gunned it. |

Had I been with my mates rather than girls, then I fear the outcome may have been different. I most probably, would have stopped and jumped out, with whatever sporting equipment I had with me! I hasten to add this was a fair few years ago, nowadays, with the proliferation of mobiles, I'd call the police or my mates (depending on time of day and where I was) and deal with it. |

Is it true that they still have to follow you for at least a mile before they can pull you and nick you for your offence?
Because i know that police are trained for pursuits and how to carry them out safely but when they are unmarked and have no blues or twos going, in an unmarked or on an unmarked vechile might this be a bit dangerous, especially on a bike as you know what a lot of car drivers are like. This isnt a dig at the police as i may become one and it would be hypocritical of me, its just the question of do some pressure you into breaking the law and do others not |

Holdup a unmarked vehicle with no emergency lighting will be unlikely to try stopping you, they are more likely follow you until they can get a marked unit to stop you..

To mirror most other posts, I'd be gutted if I got done but I'd only have my self to blame. It'd certianly make me think twice about playing with any other bikes which appear in my mirrors.
Interestingly may I ask what would be the take on if a bike appeared in your mirror which you let past. Then when it continued on its way you decided to play keep up only for it to turn out to be an officer. Could you get done then? Just a thought considering they have no right to go faster than the legal limit unless doing some crime fighting magic so if they were to speed and you were to follow they'd be as guilty as you surely. |

Maybe one of our boys in blue can clarify. Even if that is true, if you can't prove that they goaded you into speeding, how will you prove that they were speeding when following them? |

I had similar years ago as well.
Marked car would come racing up behind me then sit right on the bootlid and then drop back, did it about 3 or 4 times and I got fedup with it, and drove slower and slower and slower till the point I was doing 20mph in a NSL ( 60 limit ) I think they got the message in the end and overtook me. I'm very wary of being caught quickly by another biker, I do as others do and move left and wave them past. Then I can look at there riding or a bike before deciding if I want to play or not. I dont get why you'd want to ride fast with another rider who is a complete stranger, whose riding you dont know they could be a demon and you'd get sucked into riding faster and faster or they could be a complete muppet who is about to have a huge accident and if they are like that I'd rather keep out of their way...
