Just trying to help you spread your net Lozzo. You may find somebody who'd take it whole on the HUBB, but I didn't suggest whether you should advertise it whole or in bits. That also doesn't mean you can't list the bits on ebay, that forum is just a good place to make XT owners aware that the part is available and perhaps get yourself a buyer who otherwise wouldn't have seen it.

I'm not certain there is an answer though - bikes are only as reliable in the longer term as their owners are willing to keep them. Some have the ingredients required to outlast their owners under the right circumstances. I'm thinking about models such as the mid capacity Kawasaki Zs or GPZs (550/4 especially), which shared parts with their bigger bretheren but didn't stress them leading to the classic winter hack/despatcher GT.
