Why, are you dropping out?

Andy, Purplemountain stock the scott's now - Thier Kona fleet no longer exists. Last year it was £50 for a day on the Scott.
Be under no illusion, 3 hours is a pi55 take, you're not getting round it in anything less than 5.

In which case I would deffo consider getting hold of a borrowed or hire bike for the day if you can - that way you can enjoy the day rather than just trying to get the bike round........

I have a suitable mountain bike you could borrow......but, it would be single speed only - so would be brill on downhills etc - but you would be walking a LOT of the uphills! lol

This is the guide using Park Tools proper tools etc;

http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-...n-race-removal

Here is a guide to doing it at home;

http://www.diaryofamountainbiker.co.uk/fork_fitting.php

Disclaimer - I have seen DIY jobs where people have fubar'd the steerer tube and ended up buying a full set of new forks.

How long is dalby red route? Something like 24 or 26 miles

- BUT -

We cut it short last time, around 19 miles because the lads on hire bike had to get back before 5pm. We set off out at like 12:30 and didn't finish the course in anywhere near 3-4 hours stated on dalby literature/websites etc. and it's not a race, I'll be at the back again lol

Total Distance 34.3 km to be exact (21.3 miles) - and realistically, you're looking at 5-6 hours to do all of it unless you're crazy fit and are on a mission to complete it in a fast time.

Trail map with details on here: http://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/eng-d...by-mtb-map.pdf
