well -4'c at the mo and no sign of rain where I am. At least no water to get into the front.

Maybe get some complaints about carb icing.

If Suzuki made proper mud guards like them good old Brit bikes then there would be no probs. Me SV has started first time, and that is the first prod of the button. So I am really impressed by that. Not all bad news.

Back on the road today, happy happy happy. Well, happier.

Dealer replaced the coil and tells me that just keeping the drain hole clear will solve the problem, although a fender extender 'might help a little bit'. He did say not to grease around the plug seal as it causes the rubber to 'swell and crack'. Great! There I was all ready to fix it and get on with life and now I don't know what to do...

Having said that, I'm going to grease it as per Northwind's method because I've laid out the £3.73 on gloop already and I've got to do something after all the whinging. If it happens again (100% guaranteed not to eh Northy?) then I'll fit an extenda and shut the hell up.

Oh and no response from Suzuki UK yet . I'll keep you all informed

Back in the old days, the Brit bikes all had big full mudguards, but most of the lads took them off and fitted shortie aluminium ones. I did too, and usually ended up pushing the old Beeza home when it rained. The contact breaker assembly was at the very front of the engine and got soaked.

Depends on the grease, that. Some greases aren't rubber friendly, I'd use red rubber grease but it's not so good with heat. The Maplins stuff will be fine though.

As for "keep the drain hole clear and it'll be fine", it's balls basically Drain hole just helps it dry out faster after it goes wrong.
