I can assure you this is not a wind up

I would have thought that the Police force in question was responsible as the bike was taken under their authority, and that it's up to them to claim from the garage or dyno operator.

Flameboy, trust me, it's winding me up a treat! I just cannot believe any police force can appear to be so unprofessional as this. Even if they do turn out to have had a power to seize and dyno your bike, and I am far from convinced they can, the way they seem to have gone about it is just incredibly inept. I can understand officers on the street making mistakes in the heat of the moment, but not the subsequent issues at the station.

I seriously want to get on my bike and come up there and sort it out right now!

Possibly that too, but might be helpful to let the copper think he's passing the book to someone else.

Do it! We'll have a whip round on here for your petrol money.

Be cheap at the price, the info as to the ACTUAL rules around this will be invaluable for 33bhpers all through UK not just here.

Good idea. Cheaper than a solicitor. I pledge a fiver RH, get your kit on standby

Yup I'll chuck a fiver towards a tank of fuel to that end.

Will also assuage any of RHs concerns about it being a big wind up too, if it is then the bluff is called.

Trust me it's not the cost of the fuel that's stopping me, after all I can just pick up the phone and ring them. It's a question of professional etiquette. It's not my place to be telling Warwickshire Police how to do their job, all I can do is encourage the OP to ask the right questions.

Let me know when you are passing South Mimms as I want to come along as well.
