On the way from Llangollen to Whitchurch this morning, I stopped to let a mother duck and her brood of 10 (ten) tiny ducklings cross the road. They waddled across all in a line, it was like something from a Beatrix Potter book

A friend of mine has a pond in his garden and a duck nests there every year. He has a recreational area on the opposite side of the road to him with a mere containing lots of wild fowl but this duck prefers his garden.
Once the eggs hatch the mother tries to take them across to the mere, but the only way she can do this is through my friend's garage and across a busy road. So he has to shepherd them and stop cars to avoid any mayhem.
He's even got the council to put up a duck warning sign.

Another one from yesterday: among the bikes at the Raven Caff near Whitchurch was a rather tasty special.

At first glance it looked like one of the newish Honda CB1100s with a paint job that aped the CB550F from the 1970s. On closer inspection and chatting to the owner, it was a 1970s CB550F frame, tank & sidepanels with a Bandit 1100 engine shoe-horned in, with a Bandit front end and swing-arm. All very professionally done.

The owner/builder said it was great fun to ride and handled surprisingly well, despite the spindly frame. And obviously has more than enough grunt where it matters. Sounded very nice through its V&H exhaust too.

The finishing touch was the logos on the side panels, which said 'CB550 x2'

Me old 99 passed it's M.O.T yesterday with only one advisement and that's my Slip-on put as loud but that's just to cover themselves I guess as it's not that loud. Not bad for a Motorcycle in it's 24th year

What mileage do you have on the bike, I know Gary Northeast has exceeded 100k

It's only a Baby e.g coming up to 34K miles. Uses next to no oil ( Smith and Allen Semi-Synthetic 10w40) between changes but then I change oil and filter before or around 3,000 miles. Coolant most years max 2. Brake fluid and front and back service every year. New shoes Front and back 2021 so will keep an eye on them this year.

Mannol Dot4 Brake fluid eBay UK

Did a fork seal and put 15w Smith and Allen fork oil in last year. Totally solid front end.

Carbs and fuel system fully serviced during lock-down with new fuel lines and inline fuel filter plus new Petcock and tank filter. Carb sync at least once a year.

Still running cheap AHL Ceramic Mosfet Regulator/Rectifier.

New rear tyre a short while ago. Old one had a few miles left on it but the Valve seat started leaking so took the opportunity to change tyre and fit angled Tyre valve. Makes putting air in even easier than the valve extenders I was using.

Got one ready for the front when it's time to change the tyre

It's almost the same machine mechanically as when I got it with 16k on the engine if not better. Super solid ride and planted in the bends. Excellent MPG.

A Transalp demonstrator has finally appeared in Shrewsbury. Booked a test ride for next Wednesday.
