Vintage film cameras

I have a set of white, black and mid grey cards to meter from but I have no idea how to use them. So lucky so and so got a black Pentax ME super for a tenner. Collection only, about 40 mins away. Got a bid in on a lot with a Canon A1 and a few other bits. Got a few days to run though.

Its the Ansell Adams zone system, which equal numbers of people will decry or praise. I think maybe it's best applied only sometimes. Anyway it's potentially quite complicate but essentially says, meter for the subject. It's more about getting the right exposure for the range of shades in a scene, and there endeth my understanding. The exposure equivalent of zone focus/depth of field, I guess. Interesting discussion on RFF though, the main contributor Chris Crawford can be by turns helpful and grumpy, but he's got a great eye and really knows his onions technically. I remember shooting the 1940s day here a couple of years ago and the light was awful, no colours, it would never have occurred to me to overexpose, as it seemed fairly bright, and that would appear wrong. Will have to try it out sometime.

Well it seems to have happened again. I bought a jammed OM2n to take the battery cover and rewind crank for a previous OM2 and I spent ten minutes or so tinkering under the good while my wife watches Bake Off and I've freed it up. Fires well and the meter works. It seems I now have four OM2s and about five OM1s.

You're relationship with Olympus is like mine with Minoltas.
Not really film cameras but , I updated the firmware on the OMD EM10 today and annoyingly it's obliterated all my saved settings.

I do seem to lean towards Olympus. Not sure why! It was you who got me on to Minolta. Soft spot for Voigtlander as well.

Again not film, but bought a Fuji X30, arrived today but not got it out yet. Got three film cameras on the go - Box Tengor (6x9), Konica S and Pentax Super A (both 35mm).

That would have gone in minutes no doubt. Why free? That kit would probably go £50 or more on the bay.
