We have a campaign going on here called Plastic Free Powys. It's an attempt to persuade supermarkets to ditch the effing huge amount of unnecessary plastic they insist on wrapping everything in, particularly fresh veg. But if we're going to have a Plastic Free Powys, perhaps we should be looking at an industry which contributes a very significant proportion of plastic pollution.
These pictures were taken on a well used trackway/unmetalled road/footpath during a MtB ride this afternoon. The whole of my 6 mile ride was through lanes and trails whose hedgerows and verges were festooned with this bloody stuff.
How anyone can think this is excusable or defensible is completely beyond me.
Grrrrr.....

There is definately a call for the reduction of plastic. I reckon the black / white plastic on your ride might have come from farmers the wrapping haylage and silage, The big bales behind the red landrover. They also leave behind twine which animals eat too.

Lovely countryside .. beats the beer can macD hegdes we have here

It is indeed sileage wrap. Many of the farmers around here are moving bales from harvest areas to storage areas now and lots of the bales have loose flapping sheets of the plastic wrap which catches on trees, hedges, and verges as they are in transit. They never bother to go back and clean up after them. Some, like the dirty, slovenly 2hat who farms the land in the pictures, open bales of sileage to feed their livestock and just leave the wrap on the ground. It then breaks down into smaller pieces, which end up in nearby water courses, and being ingested by the wildlife in and around the rivers and streams, as well as being transported out to sea.

I really do think it's time for political, and industry loyalties to be set aside and for serious penalties to be imposed on anyone responsible for making this sort of foul mess.

First day back at work after 10 days off.
Looks like everything just got dumped on my desk in my absence.

My brain aches.

I need a holiday.

That'll be the heroes in their new reg cars - they find how to switch all the toys on & no clue how to turn them off.
'twas the same in the 70s, all the GLXRs lit up like fairgrounds - look at me!
plus ca change

cool thing about the yeti. when you turn the lights off it automatically resets the fog lights. lets be clear here, i have used them once and that was in bad FOG.

how can people not see a different light on, on their dash... oohhh wait they are that fekin terrified of driving that they cant look at the dash and this is why they have blocks of wood screwed under their accelerator pedal so they cant go over 40mph.

(yesterday)

AA sending out a patrol to look at a bike with a broken gearbox. clearly it wont be fixable at the side of the road... and then having to wait for another van to turn up with a bike trailer.

and then second AA man moaning the whole time about him being the only guy with a bike trailer...

typical AA. could be worse, they sent a private firm to me with a feked up old transit with a numpty driver who almost dropped the bike off the ramp. the van and driver could not do more than 30mph and i was shizzing myself all the way home from Tyndrum.

they promise the world but never deliver. i'm now with bikesure who aint that much better but its a loooot cheeper.

top tip.. if you need to use them again tell them that the bike is fubar and cant be fixed and to send a recovery truck and not a patrol van. to reinforce it tell them you used to be a motorcycle mechanic and if you cant fix it your patrol monkeys wont.
