The height actually varies depending on the thickness of ice and snow which can be as much as 3.5 metres. Technically Everest is the highest mountain from sea level. The highest mountain in the world goes to Mauna Kea in Hawaii which is a whacking 10203 metres from sea bed with the mountain attaining 4205 metres above sea level. The amazing thing is the depth of the earths crust. The mariana trench is so deep you could fit Everest in it [in the Challenger deep] and be covered by 2 Km of water. |
