Think ill pass on the kracken, even though I love that word...

I like the Fox forks, the 32 or 36's wuld be lovely but they are a little expensive... Though what is gutting is Chain reaction have some Fox 32's for £300 but they are running 1.5" head tube.

It's a great word! Easily worth £200 of your money just to have a bike with it written on the side. Yes?

I dunno, I'd want a height adjustable and I'm not so convinced by TALAS compared to u-turn so I think it'll be the revelations. Just been for a spin round the block, discovered the reason the back wheel has been such a sod to fit was that the rear axle was completely loose So now that's in bits and the wheel seller's getting a bloody rocket up him. No damage done though.

Also was at Glentress today, trailbuilding then got a lift to the top in the pickup Then minced back down in the snow, generally riding like crap. Ah well. I guess I hadn't earned my downhills... Went elegantly right over the bars into a very hard snowdrift.

Well my return to MTB`ing happened this weekend . As some of you on my Facebook will know , I managed to bag myself an "On-One" 456 Summer Season Frame in the Raw finish . This has a porous Laquer on it that will alow the frame to tarnish with use . This idea appealed to me so I put my name down for one and missed out . Lo and Behold , one turned up on eBay the other month for the right money and in excellent condition so it had to be done . It took me an evening to cannibalise my Orange Patriot and another evening to build her up . Maiden voyage was on the 13.75 mile long Penmachno course last Saturday in Heavy Snow and it took me 3 and a half hours to do due to having a stiff link in my chain and a lot of ghost shifting occurred . Crashed twice , one was an "Over the Bars" and luckily I landed on some Snow covered Heather which looked like a huge boulder at the time . Second Crash was a "Front end Loss" on some switchbacks and I managed to pull my elbow in and roll onto my back so that the Hydration Bladder took the hit in my Rucksack .

Wippermann Connex 900 chain was removed and replaced with a Shimano HG93 chain today .

I had the BB faced and chased and the Headset tube was faced as well , I put "Copter" tape underneath the Downtube to quiten down the stone chatter and to save the Laquer . I also wrapped the rear stay in self amalgamating tape to stop any damage from the chain . I found the frame to have a slight spring to it which was very much like a light pedal-bob from a full susser and was quite nice in reducing a lot of trail buzz . Frame is stiff at the front and tackles descents with agility and point-and-shoot control . It climbs very well and I am thoroughly enjoying it ....... it`s good to be back .

Those code 4 pot brakes are sick strong arnt they! Did see a review the other day where they didnt like them

They were mounted on a Jig to test them so they could dyno them , that doesn`t mean jack to me to be honest as all bikes and people are different weights and the brakes did exactly what I wanted them to do ..... slow me down without stopping my front end dead in it`s tracks . I don`t pay much attention to MBUK reviews as they just suck off anyone that gives them free socks that month or lends them a bike for a year ....... notice how EVERY Fox Fork is Buttery Smooth and ALL Cove bikes are the best in the world , Doddy being influenced by freebies . Clocked that about 4 years ago .

Um, well, I kind of rebroke one of my ribs at a fear factory gig last week So it's all systems stop on the biking front for a couple of weeks. The bike's more or less built though, still needs some finishing touches and maybe different bars (scored some forks for it), but it felt great on the short ride I got in on it before I crocked myself... Very different bike to what I'm used to but it feels like I could get in a lot of trouble on it

That brake test, pff... They marked down my XT's because they're "too hard to get onto the bars", what the hell?

Ha ha. Yea... I got to say, my bro and me have code 5's on 203mm disc's and strangely mine were quite easy to modulate, but his OMFG, touch them and you are flying through the air! Well they arnt so bad now that they are worn a little but they were crazy!

Sorry to hear about the injury there man!

You mention forks, ill say this for my £120 special (tora 318 air), they are really plush! Never top out never bottom out harshly, feel solid. Not really hit it hard yet, but I think it could take some fair hits. All in quite happy

My only gripe with Avid brakes is the fact you have to buy a bleed kit for £30 for them , that annoyed me and took about 5 weeks to get hold of one . Very handy though and they bleed really well . I`ve tried loads of brands pad-wise and stil find the original pads to be the best .

Shame about your ribs man but at least it`s the start of the season , plenty of time to heal and get riding .

Hey Greek , has your brother got the RED pad contact dial turned in too far ? He can also set the lever span with the allen key .
