Yes, I know how hard it is.

if you haven't looked into it, see if you can get some carers in to help you, depending on how poorly your mum is.

Not nice when the people you relied on all those years when we had problems of our own, now we are looking after them if they were our children?

Me, I'd just like to spare my kids the trauma of having to look after me, like I had to with my mum.

Noboby in this country is willing to help you slip off easily. I don't mean to put a downer on the evening and I'm not thinking of going yet but I have thought a little about what to do when that time comes.

My gripe of the day,

People panic buying ahead of a hurricane.
Bottled water is unobtainable, petrol is getting hard to find, grocery shelves are empty.
If you've not bought supplies by today , it's too late and the worst of the storm won't be here till Friday night.

Granted it's going to be a devastating event, the worst is predicted to be 100 miles, possibly 200 miles to the south of where I live.
(I hope)

Hope everyone emerges unscathed, Bill. It's hard for us to imagine living where the weather and the ground conspire against you. I lived in CA for 20 odd years wondering if each creak of the house was the next earthquake, I then lived in TX for a year at the starting point of "tornado alley" and used to get a red warning crawler on the tv with tornado alerts. I flew through Phoenix and just missed when they closed the airport because it was too hot for aircraft to take off. We get 2 weeks of cold air and name it "the Beast from the East", a few days of 90°F temps and people melt. Then there was our "big one", a 5.2 earthquake in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, 3 churches and a few chimneys damaged.

Getting a NIP through the post, like most of the group I was riding with...there should be a speed awareness option I hope. Was the only bloody place we could overtake a truck we were stuck behind for ages, almost as if the stretch of road was made for speeding tickets...1mph less and I'd have not received anything...

Wouldn't surprise me if the police had hired the truck for the day to drive slowly up and down a stretch of road bottling up traffic so that when it reaches the stretch of road where overtaking is possible their speed camera makes maximum profit.....

Yep, a short stretch of 40 limit with good visibility for overtakes, with solid white lined 60 limits either end for miles....

Atleast 3 others on our 3 day charity ride got NIPs today too because they were overtaking the truck in the same section of road
