Erm.... right. Entertaining if a bit random.

Got my insurance renewal quote through from Carole Nash. As a lot of people on the MotoUK subreddit have had ridiculous hikes in their premiums, I was steeling myself for an assault on my credit card.

My premium has gone up by .... 17p. I might give them a ring to see if they'll sharpen their pencil a bit anyway, but I'm quite pleased with that

That's encouraging Craig. I'm with Carole Nash as well, and they've consistently been the lowest price for me for the last 3 years.

I was with C.N for years but out of the blue they hiked up my premium by £100 a few years ago, so I transferred to to Adrian Flux who did the same last year, now with Bennett's which is £30 cheaper than AF. Got fed up with haggling, I now just move to a different company. Trouble is with two bikes of different age I have to ring companies up to get a quote usually which can be a long drawn out process.

This is insurance time of the year for me, so I've had some trepidation.

My house insurance premium doubled (LV) but I shopped around and got it for virtually the same as last year from Churchill.

The word on the EV forums was that premiums were exorbitant but my renewal with LV on a multi-car policy have not gone up as much as feared and I've not been able to beat it by shopping around. Surprisingly the little Citigo runaround has gone up by more than the big EV. EV up by £64 and Citigo up by £87.

Damn!! I'm now a bundle of nervous, anticipatory excitement. In a good way.

Just renewed Hugh's insurance and it only went up by a few quid, so I feel very lucky (for a change).

Gripe and smile in one post. Been noticing that the lawns have been growing pretty long, ( lawns are the original solar powered thing, and just like solar in UK disappears from October to March, so does the lawn stop growing ). Problem is when the grass gets too long certain animals start to use it as a alfresco toilet, and sure enough a week ago the areas of 'scraped grass' whatever is doing it, dog, fox or local moggies ( of which we have a plague ) thinks that scraping the grass around somehow makes the sheet disappear... I decided to get the trusty Webb mower out of hibernation ( Briggs and Stratton engine but I would have preferred a Honda ). I had put some Stabil fuel stabiliser in last Autumn and some Redex... An amazing thing happened, I primed the carb and pulled the cord, and the engine fired up, only to stop again quite quickly, but i primed it again and it fired up and kept running sweetly. After I had dealt with 8 mounds of animal sheet off the lawn with a garden trowel the lawn is looking a lot better, I trimmed it down to about 2 inches long but hopefully it is a lot less attractive as a sheet depositary for the local wildlife....

I only have two small lawns so I use a corded electric mower and I wonder if it will cope when I try a first cut - can't get parts for it anymore either.

Bloke next door got a battery cordless mower a few years ago, I asked him how he was getting on with it, he said 'it's OK unless two blades of grass gang up on me at once'.....
