Took the Minolta XE1 out for a spin with a 50mm f1.7 from the SRT. Of all things to happen to it the mirror quirk was not one of them. What happened was the film advance wouldn't catch properly leaving a loose wind lever that took some jiggling to allow the shutter button to be pushed. Other than that, a pretty decent little shooter. Going to Caister Castle motor museum tomorrow so have to choose another camera. Might take the 605 with the Flek, or the FRii with the 24mm.

No problem. What do I take tomorrow? MX with 40mm, FRii with 24mm or OM with 28mm? So many choices...

For relatively close-up stuff like that I like a 50mm, so I'd say the 40mm, but if you like the wide angle then why not give the Flektogon a run?

I'm glad the XE1 worked OK, apart from the wind on. Was it to do with the film lading or is there a problem with the sprockets or the backplate pressure? Exposures from mine, manual and auto, were spot on.
For the motor museum, you're spoilt for choice. If it's inside, I'd be thinking about something with a wide aperture.

The widest aperture I have is the Pentax 50mm f1.4. Currently on the Program A. But I was thinking something wide angle.

Went for an OM2n with the 28mm in the end. Burnt through 3 rolls of film, so now got six to send off to be developed once I get paid. Couple of rolls of Superia, Kodak Gold and Ultra and a roll of Konica VX200 (shot in the XE). I'll take a look under the base plate of the XE to make sure everything is ok, it's sticking again.
