Never ever use an Easy Out. That will be a ******* to remove, sorry to say I don't think you'll drill it out. It might have to be spark erroded out, which means the head has to come off.

those extractors should be banned. they dont work.

only suggestion i can make is to drill into the sides of the extractor using thin bits then try and remove the extractor stud. or cut a slot in the extractor stud and use an impact and flat bit to turn it back out i would personally go with the flat bit.

there are bits that drill into extractors no problem but they cost lodsa dosh. ALWAYS USE CUTTING FLUID DESIGNED FOR THE METAL YOU ARE CUTTING.

there are mobile stud extractor companies out there. you could try giving one of them a phone?

Obviously this guy is too far away from you, but I've seen him post some great repairs on broken studs etc, so as Bib suggested find one in your area

It helps if you can get area hot before trying to extract the bolt as the aluminium expands more than the steel of the bolt and slackens its grip on the thread a bit.

As Bibio says if you can safely get a cutting disc in there and cut a slot, worth a try. I have used extractors before but always get the aluminium hot.

It was all as hot as I could get it. Can't run the engine with the exhaust off and an hour of drilling and it cooled down. Going to have a rest and a think. Fed up with it all now.

Tonight on my way home I had a blowout doing 70 on a dual carriageway but didn't realise until the ride became rough. There was no change in the way the car handled but I was near my exit so continued until I came off and found a safe place to park. The front nearside tyre was completely missing and I realised that for the last quarter mile I was driving on the rim, hence the vibration.

Needless to say, the space saver was under inflated at about 20psi but I put it on anyway after half an hour struggle to jack up the car. Fortunately I was only a couple of hundred yards from a Tesco garage so I was able to put the full 60psi in it. So new tyre and probably a new alloy too, if I can find one for a 12 year old WRX.
