Nah its all easy stuff really - will get father-in-law round to check the valve clearances but the rest I will do myself. Give it a good clean up and paint a few of the rusty bits too.

On this basic maintenance course im doing the tutor has said we will be covering safety checks, servicing, chain & sprockets, brakes and whatever else we want, we may even be able to take our own bikes into the workshop.

The problem ive got is that i dont know what else will need to be done in the future so i dont know what to ask him to show us.
I keep hearing mention of valve clearances and carb balancing, would it be sensible to get him to cover these (or even do them on my bike during class time)?
My bikes on 35k now and ive no idea if and when these things were last done. What else do you think it would be worth getting him to cover?

This is a free short course and the ideal opportunity for me to acquire as much knowledge as possible. I know some of the other students were blathering on about fuel injection and ABS but my little 'ole curvy isnt really interested in either of those (i dont think )!

I would think that valve clearances and carb balancing could be covered if you were to ask - perhaps not re-shimming but certainly checking them. Ask - it cant hurt

I'm planning on giving mine a full service including valve clearance check, fitting braided hoses and possibly fork oil and spring change and maybe a ZX10R rear shock fit. plus a few cosmetic bits and pieces

I've got a very slightly weeping fork seal that needs doing so thats my winter

Filled my bike up on the way home last night - the light had been on for about 10 miles and I could only squeeze £13 in it I had managed about 120 miles though. Still its a small tank compared the Blackbird before it - I could get over £20 in that

I've changed my riding style quite drastically (just aswell after my performance at the rideout!) and ride quite a lot harder now. Its noticeably affected fuel consumption though - ive gone from 150miles to the light coming on to only 130 miles Much more fun per mile though

After that hugely impressive wheelie you did I thought it wouldnt be long before you were terrorising the streets

Came in the cage to work today and its a lovely day outside - typical!

I started of getting about 150 miles now i'm lucky to get 120
