Re: Any Constructive Comments Re. the Abersoch Rideout
I feel sorry for Ed, I'm sure he's wondering why he bothered.
But it's not a bash Ed thread is it? It's about a group of people who maybe took things a bit for granted. We did a rideout with some Ducati folk a couple of weekends again. Ended up at the Elan Valley. Great day out, but there was no mention of markers or TEC. One guy was on a Divvy 900 wearing a fluorescent, and he sorta naturally ended up at the back. The 11 or 12 bike group got split into 3 as the quicker bikes went off leaving those who wanted to bimble in the middle with a cautious newbie rider at the back with the Divvy. 1st roundabout we came to, we naturally marked it. Waited until we saw the Divvy and set off, only to find the next roundabout was unmarked. Luckily we had an idea of the route, so marked that roundabout at the ,we hoped, correct junction, waited until all the following riders hoved into view and set off to join the leading group. Luckily we managed to re-join them, but this procedure was the same for the duration of the ride, with only one other bike thinking with a markers head. We are a bit spoiled by the Org rideouts, but we should all think like individuals as well as team mates. |

We all should know how to get to where we are going even if we get lost.... /considers the fact that I can get lost really easily..... Mobile phone swapping is pretty important to stop the people who aren't lost from worrying...... Most of Sunday was fine despite the lack of a briefing. 1 more week to go.... |

Re: Any Constructive Comments Re. the Abersoch Rideout
I came perilously close to running out of fuel today. My light started flashing on the M54 between Telford and the M6 last Sunday after this ride, so I reset the trip so I knew how long the light had been on for.
Today I filled up at Hopwood Park Services with 57 miles on the trip! I had basically done this 52 mile journey with the light on and my speedo over reads by 10% http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&so...9&ie=UTF8&z=10 Can anyone tell me exactly where we were when we last filled up? Where we realised that Claire was lost. I want to see how many miles I managed on one tank. It must be getting close to 200 miles! Last edited by -Ralph-; 28-03-10 at 02:59 PM. |
