It's no use complaining that higher mileage bikes are worth less, for the simple reason that that must mean that the people concerned aren't using their cars, so those vehicles are worth more. Equal and opposite. Blue - that's Newton's 1st law, isn't it

My bike doesn't get used that much. I'm not going to explain why (although the fact that I have to drop my daughter off at school on the way to work might be something to do with it) because I don't have to justify it to anyone.

i was not pointing the finger at anyone in particular, it was a mere observation in reply to the post.
your suggestions offer another reason why people buy bikes and don't ride them everyday and i'll agree with that. but in the same token you must agree that my points have some ground aswell. for the record i ride my bike everyday, commute and a run around at the weekend but i don't see ''weekend warriors'' as any less a biker than myself.

We can pick and chose the best days to ride them so we do. Unless you are a complete cretin i think you will agree there is far more pleasur in riding on a summers day in warm sunshine with some friends and stopping at a pub for a cooling drink.

What i get fed up with is some of the pr*cks on this forum thinking that because they ride a no sports bike 24/7 in all condidions all year they have some sort of god given right to be on the road and ride more than those of us that use our bikes purley as a pleasure pursuit. Or to take some sort of high grund and look down on those of us that only really ride in the summer months. Personally i would rather ride my pristine well cared for corosion free bike from April to September than a rust bucket in need of some atention just so i can presume i am better than the "weekend wariors"

Good point about plenty of low mileage bikes being available in the future.

This isn't a dig, or really part of the conversation BUT..

You usually find that the best thing for any mechanical device is for it to be used all the time, and serviced appropriately.

E.g My SV is a bit of a ratter, even the frame around the LHS rearset is coated in a layer of grime from chain spray... but rust bucket it isn't, under that coat of $hite is GREASE packed into bearings, and a fairly well arranged engine. More than I can say for most bikes that get taken out once a week and washed after!
