Next week I'll be in London so it will be a ride round the courner.

That'll work minimally but mostly they will just burn brighter and blind other people. It's the reflectors behind the bulbs what give out the light. It might be an idea to take the bulbs out and see if you can give the reflectors a bit of a clean though. They do get a coating of carp on them over time which does do quite a good job of dulling the brightness.
