I have Altberg boots. They have a sole like walking boots and are a bit higher than 'normal' sportier bike boots which have a thinner sole. It makes a bit of difference maybe 20mm. Every little helps. And you get good grip as well! I always miss my boots when I go and clean the bike or something with my normal trainers on, sit on it to paddle it backwards and think god this bike has grown but instead I miss my boots. They are a lot cheaper than Daytonas and I like mine

Right ok, update:
I took the Gs bones and fitted, em! Good news? I can get two fit on the floor and it feels PERFECT!!! I honestly mean its perfect! Bads news. Erm clearance isn't great, though i will add, i don't know the full geometrics or whatever it is but i can't see any difference clearance wise than on my cruiser (125 intruder) The only clearance problem was the undertray and rear wheel. So my question was do the aftermarket undertray sit as low as the stock ones? I have attached some pics in no particular order but, the ones where my feet are at the side are the ones before dropping so you can see the difference! The ones of me sitting on are the lower bones(perfect ones). So question is if i was to make some that were inbetween the two? The shorter ones were 15.5cm from middle of hole and the longer ones were 18cm, so if i went somewhere in the middle? Once lowered the pegs weren't an issue, my legs were behind them and weren't a problem! on the shorter bones my legs can only go in front and therefore they get in the way big time! So question is how can i work out the measurements i need? I know you mention handling, but i would rather do it this way get used to the bike (crap handling aswell) this way! Thanks in advance. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Ruthja2801; 06-03-09 at 09:30 PM. |

gawd you've turned it into a chop!
That is going to handle like a bucket o poo. good luck to you, think you might need it. sorry ![]() dunno about the clearance, maybe go up the road and bump test it, see if the rear tyre leaves tracks up the under tray! Don't think an aftermarket tray would be any different to standard, just fancy colours for aesthetic reasons, could be wrong though,

how much ground clearance have you got? , I'd be worried about your exhaust system, but it might just be the angle of the photo
If it is as bad as it looks, I'd watch out when going down curbs, a belly pan will be out of the question no doubt ![]()

Instead of buying daytona boots, do you have any platforms you can try sitting on the bike just to see if it makes a difference before you buy expensive boots?

I did totally change its shape, but she is still pretty, just unusal! LOL
Handling - i agree thats why i would be happy to go up slightly to regain some handling but i know i won't be able to build my confidence as it was and maybe in the future i will be able to go back up if i get on ok!!! Sorry i'm a whimp! Thank you for your help though i appreciate it! |

Ruth - You've fitted dogbones off a different bike with different suspenion geometry. I dont know how thats going to feel to ride, I'd be very careful with it until you have sussed it out. TBH the sensible part of me says that I would be taking that somewhere and getting a qualified suspension person to take a look at it before you ride it, Just to make sure what you have done is going to be safe. I also think you may have issues with the sidestand not being short enough now as well.

Sorry if I sound pretty blunt in my posts, I'm just looking at things from a practical sense. Its fair enough your desperate to sort it out for your own confidence, but its at what cost to the handling. Like you say, have a go at this set up, get a bit of confidence and work up. Just if you do, alter the forks back at the same time. At least you've dropped them to the max like the rear end for this purpose.
