Fair enough let the scotts/welsh and irish do as they please its the UK tho and pretty similar lets face it.

Not really fair your taking what i said outta context. Take for example black culture etc you can tell their different BUT do they ask for a "black law" erm no, black only schools dont remember them asking for one recently. It all fits into the uk culture.

Yea our great king henry the VIII was a randy git wanted a son and didnt get one til about wifey 5/6. The pope wouldnt nullify his marriage to wife one and therefore he formed his own church for the divorce. Yea i do know my history thankyou!

We were[ORIGINALLY]a Christian country,be it Catholic or Protestant and everybody spoke English in schools but I've heard of instances where, dress is a concern[school uniform] attending morning Assembly because of the prayer, refusing domestic science? because of the food. Political correctness and pandering has gone to far in my estimation and I am proud of Belgium for making a stand against it

How is moving from not bothering about it to banning it a stand against political correctness?

Because under the current PC culture banning anything that would affend anyone is deemed a breach of human rights maybe?

See many muslim women in glasgow having 16 pints and throwing bottles at coppers do you? LOL

But seriously, English culture and Scots culture are so close as to be the same thing when comparing them to Eastern cultures.

The problems is that the mores of society are continually changing. At varying times, you'd have been persecuted in these countries for being a Jew, being a woman, being a Jacobite, being a Catholic, being a Protestant, being a serf, being a witch. Presumably you would not wish the return of these persecutions?

The values of society now are not the same as when you were a child as they are continually changing in small ways (civil unions spring to mind). Most of the changes that stick are to remove persecution, not introduce new ones.

Ask yourself this simesb.

Why should we bend over backwards to accomodate them when they will not do the same for us? I'm not talking about when we go abroad either.

BTW i HATE it when ex pats move to spain etc and setup mini england, ignoring local culture. If i'm abroad visiting my parents (who live in france) i'll speak the lingo as best i can and fit in as best i can, as do my parents!

them? I assume you mean Muslims?

I'm not expecting anybody to bend over backwards. Live and let live is my motto. As far as I can see, Belgium is bending over backwards not to accommodate them. They have put through legislation that will ban the burqa for an estimated 200 wearers. And only while they're in public.

PS The law actually seems to state that you cannot wear a costume in a public place designed to conceal your identity. Does this mean the end of the traditional Christian wedding veil too, or is that different?
