I only pretty much use the back brake, when coming up to a stop at lights etc. Very rarely use it for much else. Good job really as the VRaps pedal is in the wrong place and me foot can't reach it!
Come to think of it , I use the engine more than the front brakes too.

I did think that last night too. Quite dangerous of us really if we're not showing any brake light. Good reason to start using the back brake if only to let everyone know we're slowing down!

not really. Its how a vtwin should be ridden. Besides you only need to tap the front brake several times without actually braking for the light to flash if you want a muppet to stop breathing down your neck if they;re too close. I've ridden this way since I began....but then I only have vtwins, other bikes probably need more use of both sets of brakes.

When filtering I ALWAYS keep my foot covering the back brake.
Being a car driver also, I find I brake, before my brain tells tell my foot to do anything, instinct or just habit, ![]() Saved me lots of times. ![]()

One of my instructors on my DAS had a go at me about not using my back brake when slowing for a sliproad to show I was slowing down. Parallel twin.

Afterall, the examiner is going to be behind you. Both the brakes operate the brake light, so he would be able to see you are braking even if not using the rear brake. |
