When i used to tow my 650kgs boat up to windermere with my mk2 golf gti, i used to lose approx 10mpg sometimes a bit less.
Diesels might not notice as much id guess. |

Guys n all,
Looking at the mundane long journey , I can only think of is to make it a pleasant of a journey getting there. Say. Start Ace café ride (breakfeast) to Newcastle-under-lyme stopping for petrol and fag and pee. 152 mi – about 2 hours 27 mins Then have a good rest @1 - 1 1/2 hour chill out, cool off, check bike etc.(massage ass). Then the rest of the journey would be . 103 mi – about 1 hour 53 mins So max on the bike would be 2 ˝ hours, but then still allowing stops here and there. If there are enough of us, when we do stop to chill out, we could get in 40 winks without worrying some gits going to steal anything off the bikes. Just a thought….. ![]() http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&so...,16.896973&z=6

I don't want to worry you, but you're about 300 miles short - thats the AR11 campsite. GMIV is on the other side of the scottish border

Venue hasn't been announced yet, as far as I'm aware.
Going by previous years though, it'll be somewhere up here: http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&hq...52692&t=h&z=10 |

Getting a suitable venue for the GM isn't easy, unless you shorten your list of pre-requisites like B&B accommodation, wigwams or bunkhouse, food, booze, etc. There aren't actually that many options in Scotland for this than can/will take 50 bikers at once, though campsites are ten a penny, you may have to walk into the nearest town or village for everything else.
Stuartyboy has his work cut out, so unless he takes the proven option of Beinglas Campsite, where you don't need to book for camping, you just turn up it (doesn't mean Wigwam B&B is still available though), the venue could be anywhere from Gretna to Inverness, or it may not happen at all. It's February and people are planning their holidays now, Scotland will be getting booked up. I used to plan a rideout weekend for 4 people in May around this time of year, it always included a city centre night out somewhere, and getting 4 rooms in 1 B&B or hotel could be a nightmare in places like Aberdeen, Inverness, etc. Last edited by -Ralph-; 06-02-11 at 10:14 AM. |
