It also has a bit of a misfire at low revs, which I'm thinking could be due to the rear downpipe woofing a bit. I will have a look at why it's blowing tomorrow night. I dont think that the previous owner did anything with it other than ride it, so I'm hoping it just needs a bit of love.
Rear collector box gasket is a common failure on the thou. Read about it on portal. Changed mine last year and it does make it run rough. Get one here or for a few quid more from Suzuki.

Cheers Ratty. I will get one ordered.
The more I ride it the more problems arise, which I had a feeling it might have done.
Now have an oil leak on the Alternator cover, when I looked the bolts were all loose & they had been for a while looking at the crud around them I have now tightened them but it is still weeping, so think it could be that he's had the cover off, broken the gasket & not bothered replacing it.
Winding the throttle open makes the bike sound really rough & vibrates all over the show, release the throttle & it runs smoothly. I'm wondering if he has had the rear wheel out & not adjusted the chain correctly, or it's drive/sprocket related. I will check it this weekend.
Other than that, it has new cans on & sounds feckin awesome

Well, 2 weeks & just over 300 miles in & I thought I would write an update.
I sold the fairing lowers to SV400rob, so the bike has now cost under £700.
Ratty, you were spot on, collector gasket made the bike feel a lot better. My mate owned a motorbike shop & fixed me up with a good front tyre for nothing (cheers Karl). I've spent 6 hours today having a mess. Found out that the clutch pushrod has worn slightly & I think that the oil seal is goosed as well, hence the oil leak from the left hand side.
I've also set the TPS, but havent been out to try it yet, that will have to wait until tomorrow.
The previous owner hasn't bothered servicing it for a while, the air filter is a nice grey colour with bits of grass in it. I've given it a clean with an airline for the time being.
Also changed the front brake pads, so will see how she is now. Bit of TLC should do her the world of good.

In conclusion I have to say that it looks like I bought a bargain & after I've spent a bit of money on her should have a nice bike.

Cheers mate. Triumph will be going up for sale now that I know the Thou is a good one. I wont put it on here as i want it to go to someone I dont know just in case more problems arise. I think that it should be ok now, but you never know.
