i am lucky my company car does 45 mpg sort journeys and 50 mpg on decent journeys,

However despite the rate going up to 12p per mile for cc drivers I loose on every company mile driven.

It now costs me 75£ to fill it up £15 more than last year wich is £360 a year I am out of pocket.

Fortunalty catherine does f all mileage so her 2.0 litre is not a problem really although we dont use it for much,

Depressing ain't it.

Probably another generation of "I'll never vote conservative" idiots who haven't taken the time to understand who got us in this crap.

and the government need you to do that in order to pay vat / tax on the things you need. So its in their interest to keep you in work, and keep your costs down by going to work.

Its a vicious circle, you put people out of work, you decrease your income and increase out going by increasing the load on the welfare state.

Unemployments on the climb, inflation is up and to think there was talk the other day that we were coming out of the recession, I cant see it, I think we are getting deeper into the current recession...

I think before long we'll see another watershed for protests. When the price of fuel hit £1 per litre, it was that 4 figure value (100.9) which caused people to rally against the prices of it. I think we'll probably see out £1.40 per litre with more moaning and groaning but £1.50 cant be that far away with the unrest in the Middle East therefore I think that will be the point at which the issue becomes much sharper in everyones mind.

I swapped my car a couple of years back going from 30mpg to 40mpg with low running costs and it saved me a lot of money. I went the other way on the bike only a few months back, swapping the 60mpg Versys for the 40mpg Street Triple. Its pleasure mileage and therefore only a few hundred extra a year which I can afford at the moment but there will come a point where I will have to say enough is enough. I'm already starting to think about the next bike and what I will be asking of it.

I've seen a lot more people getting on their pedal cycles for work around here lately and I think I'll be starting on mine next month once the mornings get a bit lighter (7am starts). 9 miles each way on the bike will go some way to getting me fitter in both body and bank account.

Its frightening to think that we have probably hit peak oil production without any real challenge to oil for the future. Demand in China will speed up the downward trend even further.

Inflation! Live in London for a while and you realise what a joke prices are down here, not just petrol, every measly aspect of life is virtually a rip off, which includes trying to be eco friendly and using the tubes and buses.
