i found a brilliant site for all the extended fuel screws and bits in the uk ...also abit cheaper than kientech. post it up when i get back tomorrow.
[Edit] Bit of a rumage through it all but there are some good parts at quiet good prices on here. http://shop.1stmx.co.uk/index.asp Last edited by BBadger; 25-04-11 at 10:22 AM. |

...Cont from wrong bike thread...
The previous owner of mine did mention he'd stuck to it regementally, he changed oil every 1000, the filter and screen along with all washers and o-rings etc every 2000. It'd be a shame to be the one who broke that trend, Im just gutted that I cant find the o-rings or washers anywhere that isnt a suzuki dealer which sucks! Something else I wanted to ask you on yours, does it have the MCCT or still the standard auto one? Im thinking of ordering one from Thumpertalk, it should save a few quid if order them together I intend on asking phil too. |

My bike is an '06 and had 4115 miles on it when I picked it up - the previous owner had no service book but the oil was fresh looking and he gave me the remains of a can of Silkolene Comp4 10/40 and said he had changed it every year (only did 1000 miles a year in the 4 years he owned it) - I see no reason to doubt that.
Just ordered the O-rings from the local Suzuki dealer (£4.50 for the pair) - will pop there on Friday to get a couple of filters and some crush washers. (Filters are now £7.50) I thought the newer ones were fitted with a better ACCT? Excuse my naivety! ![]()

You're not wrong from 03 onwards there arnt as many cases of it springing back and messing the timing up causing the bent valves etc. Suzuki tweaked it so it held firmer as the problem came from the cam chain bouncing and knocking the tensioner back up when people shut off the throttle. The down side is because of the way suzuki have done it, on the newer models the more common promlem is exsessive wear of the cam chain MCCT is the only way to reasonably prevent it.
It'll be a pay day or 2 away before I do it so you've plenty of time to consider it but I thought it worth a mention just in case you were contemplating it yourself. My interest was peaked so I've just called the nearest suzuki dealer to work: It will cost me £23.54 for: 3x Sump Plug and Washer 3x Small O-Ring 3x Large O-Ring Thats not actually as bad as I feared, they'll be ready for collection tomorrow ![]() |

A quick read shows that its fairly easy to do - but what about tensioning it afterwards when it wears?

From what I can tell it just becomes part of the regular service check, every so often adjust it out slightly so it rattles - then move it back in again until its gone + 1/6 turn for good measure.

I've had one ( a k2) since 2003 and done a fair few mods:
Supermoto wheels 3x3 air box mod and dynojet (biggest improvement) Hotcams inlet cam (not a big difference....disappointed) E exhaust Pair removed Later cct fitted Case savers (cases are made of cheese) They are a belting bike, and mine had done thousands of miles flat out, ridden round the tt circuit, and various practice days at 3 sisters. About the cct's .....the later ones are fine. They both apply the same pressure to the cam chain, it's just that the later ones lock properly. The earlier ones could fail when a spring broke and they would release the tension. |

I also feel the 1k service is excessive, does it say this in the service book?
Most singles will burn a fair amount of their oil in 1000 miles anyway especially if your thrashing it so it's getting fresh oil all the time lol Saying that, I may do mine soon as I think the front pads need changing soon as well. |
