Default Re: Pennine Massive Mountain Bikers... Anyone fancy dalby forest?

Update: Pexton moor farm emailed back saying they were fully booked for both weekends and then proceeded to give a full price list and info regarding rules??

I'll give high rigg a call later today but it's not looking promising - we could end up camping a bit of a distance away from dalby itself (there are other campsites near to pickering which is the nearest village/town about 5 minute drive down the road from dalby)..

I'll see if I can find anywhere with bunkhouse type accomodation but failing that matt, I've got a 4 man dome tent which you could use for the weekend? (it's the one I've got for sale)

And as for 22 miles - CRIKEY!! Better up my route 6.66 to the longer 12 mile version I was gonna start soon! Like a few people have said though, take is as slow or as fast as you like, stop off for a drink every so often and the day will soon fly by The hire bikes sound good

Nice one Tom, think the more the better on this one - sounds like we're all fairly beginner level apart from matt (but he's an asswhole anyway so it doesn't matter) so should be a good laugh I reckon

Feck paxton moor, we dont need them - ******s. (too harsh?)

Might take you up on that 4 manner, just deponds on if anyone else is needing somewhere to camp. Our tent has 2x 4man compartments at either end with living in the middle so ideal if someone else is tentless.
BARE IN MIND IF WIFEY IS COMING SO WILL BAMBINO
(This means everyone other than paul tucked up nicely in his van will prob be woken by a cry at somepoint, usually around 4am)

AS I tried to explain to Tom, downhill I'll be fine my tech ability *should* be pretty decent. But up hill, with the peddling and effort I'll be the slowest I've zero fitness at the moment - minimal exercise and maximum takeaways is seeing to that.

Hey, Paul!
I'm about 5 miles from Dalby & may be able to help. There's a campsite at Ellerburn, half way between T.Dale & Dalby - cycle 2 miles to Dalby from there. Doesn't take bookings, but could pop in for you when you know dates / numbers.

yeeeehaa cheers puny I'll give high rigg a call but it's looking doubtful to be honest..

I don't mind the baby waking up at 4am screaming I over insulated the van so you can't even hear a 12v airbed pump screaming away from the outside when the door's shut

I'll be taking it steady on this one - not looking to try and show off to anyone, the whole reason for sticking this post out is that I've never been & really want to go, but didn't much fancy the idea of going alone. With that in mind I'll be a complete noob and may end up jumping off to push the bike on some of the steeper sections

Don't mind looking silly....... as long as there's someone in front or behind me looking just as silly

aye yeah we can get him to carry some ballast like when ducati were forced to in GP/WSB a few years ago

righto - 22 miles to think about - I'm gonna do my extended 10-12 mile loop this afternoon and then get to the gym later on this evening
