I guess it's the future, or the future Microsoft have decided we will have, and support for 7 won't last forever...
So, stick with 7 or change to 10?
Don't know why you don't like Win7, its better than XP, although not much, but way better than Win 8.

My pC's on 7 and I can't bring myself to upgrade to 10, even though support will run out for 7

Yep, I am typing this on a good ol' W7 machine and I love it. I bought a grands worth of Acer laptop from PC world for photography and ended up having to get it pre loaded with W10 as there were so many problems with it when I did the upgrade. The PC World 'Guru's' couldn't get to the bottom of it. It has been an expensive nightmare so far, hopefully Microsoft will get it working better some time soon.

I hate W8 and W10.

Just my 2 pennies worth, Win10 as a clean install works just fine. I personally prefer the look of Win7 because I like the Aero look with transparent edges etc and I'm not a fan of the newer flat icons but, that aside, Win10 seems to do everything required. Win10 as an upgrade seems to be hit and miss. My youngest's netbook, despite coming up as fully compatible, died. Eldest's laptop upgraded without issue. Our home PC appeared to upgrade ok but then started behaving unstably and I ended up having to do a clean install. It's now fine. Mrs DJF's laptop upgraded fine. I've got software on my Win7 laptop that won't survive the upgrade, so Win7 it stays. By 2020 it will be landfill anyway, so I don't feel I'm missing out by not using the free upgrade. As it happens, I'm typing this on a much older laptop running Linux Mint, which for browsing, basic office stuff and downloading iPlayer stuff to watch on holiday works perfectly.

It's worth downloading the image and starting from clean then?

With Windows 10 it doesn't make much difference as the way it installs itself is different from previous versions of Windows.

When a new OS comes out you'll always get haters, yes there will be a few bugs but most of the time it's users just complaining because something isn't exactly the same as the way they like it.

Then you have businesses who just don't want to spend out on the upgrade and will stick with XP till the end of time.

Fortunately Microsoft's new evergreen approach will improve this and upgrades will work in the same way Android devices upgrade now.
