The guys at Pistonheads have setup a donation site to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (who took Hammond to hospital). It was initially intended to raise money for the one flight, but it's growing beyond that now -

I usually don't give a t*ss about "celebrities" but Hamster is a genuine nice guy and seeing him do his thing every Sunday has made a big fan. What's happened is heart-breaking and I hope he recovers fully, not just a "good" recovery... even is he doesn't do another episode of TG, I don't mind, as long as he's OK.

News just said he has been taken out of the critical ward, that sounds more promising

Just got pointed to the Wikipedia site for the Hamster - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Hammond

Great quote from James May

"I was chuffed to see him and although he's muttering, he seems much like the irritating little **** I know and love. Even when he can't say much, he seemed to make as much sense as he does when he can talk normally...Having seen him today I do believe Richard will make a full recovery from this awful crash and, when he's back on his feet, I'm looking forward to going down to the pub with him."
