Forget the weekend, I had a test ride today! I now know what it's like to ride a fast naked! Talk about small. And the faring is where?
Lovely engine, brakes, suspension and the gearbox was ok although trying to get it into first was a bit of a pain sometimes, but it was a demonstrator.
I did write a long report but basically I liked it a lot, especially the sweet song the engine sings! Beautiful. IMHO the engine is by far the best part of this bike. The lack of engine braking felt strange, I thought they'd be a bit more than there was. Fours must feel really wierd after riding a twin. More than enough power there.
The only downer I could put on it was the size of it, ironically the one thing Triumph are really proud of. It wasn't so much the slimness of it, just the front to rear dimensions, although there isn't that much difference between that and the SV. I fitted on it ok at six foot two but could never in a million years get under the screen and don't think a double bubble would help that much. Even if I was shorter I don't think that'd help. I did get cramp after I stopped for a mo but I get that on the SV. (Most people get it on while they're riding don't they? I get it just after I stop and start again).
So there you go.
Can't wait to try the street triple! In your dealers from Friday.
