Not as old as our old one was, but fairly old yes... the new one is old too, but just about works.
I tend to afford things just as the world starts to think they're "obsolete".

My current TV is about 18 years old, flat screen with 3 HDMI ports and a scart connection.
Still got a good picture, not so good with night footage and dark scenes.
I would like a new smart TV but while this one does the job perfectly well I'll keep it.
These new ones do have stunning picture quality

There's none of those options on my phone. It's an iphone 6.

Most wi-fi devices like phones, PDA and computers have an 'auto log on' as an option when a wi-fi source you have used before comes within range, they remember the network name and password. For security this is normally not the default setting though.

Might well be more to do with the compression applied from whatever source you use. Visible banding in dark scenes is unlikely to get improved with a better or newer TV.

Obviously TVs in shops use really high quality source material.

Sky HD box but it was the same with the standard Sky box.

My sister's Sony TV is visibly better than our TV, and that's either with her old crappy sky box or using my portable hdd with our media files on it.

And only now does the sun appear, just before it goes to bed for the night

High winds and rain most of the day on Sunday here at Trev Towers and yet here I am in my study today looking out at clear blue skies and just a breath of a breeze. NOT FAIR!!!!
