I am actually using victorian engineering principles (over engineering) to convert what was the tiled over "gazebo" into a pucker man cave. The uprights were flimsy unbraced 4"'x4"s, (gazebo, so open to the elements, but roofed over. So no bracing put in at the time to allow open access, big mistake) that had started to lean under the weight of the roof (tiled), so replaced with wall supports of 6"x3", 3 ft apart. But I need to jack in new roof bearers for which I an using 18' lengths of 8"x2".

The problem is, I cannot put in the new principle rafters without removing the original uprights. Hence the need for a couple of acrows to take the weight of the roof whilst I remove the uprights and get the new rafters bolted onto the new wall supports.

Then it is a simple matter of cladding with stupidly thick loglap. This thing should last me a lifetime by the time it is finished, then sell the acrows on. If I ever get them. £50 for 12 was cheaper than hire for a week.

Hang on to the acrows. Every proper man cave needs a basement, right? Underpinning is all the rage these days.

Post flu jab soreness, barely a scratch yesterday, this morning its sore, despite no bruising.

Its worth it, although I think its too late this year, as I think I've had my major bug this year

Having to change the times on six watches and three clocks as BST has ended. Luckily the alarm clock is radio controlled so we never wake up late when they change.

todays gripe is actually as a result of yesterday. I forgot to take my medication principally the lansoprazole. Didn't think about it till about 6pm when my stomach began to complain. too late, you need to take it before food, first thing in the morning.

By midnight and 8 gaviscon later, I am sat on the bed doubled up in pain as the acid eats me from inside. 4am was the last time I checked the clock, dogs shot in the room at 6am. Don't they know the clocks went back. So 2 hours kip.

It is a miracle drug, 15 years of daily pain, cured for the past 10 years. but boy do I know when I forget to take it. So first thing this morning it went down.

Same here, if I miss my meds I can guarantee a day of nasty upset tummy, mood swings and even the occasional violent outburst.

What is annoying me today though? Why wont the cat leave me alone? It is almost like he wants to inhabit the same space as me, he sleeps on me every night, curls up in my lap all day if let him and even sits in the garage watching me if I head down there to work on the bike. I have just had to move my keyboard so that he can sit on my desk. I am such a soft touch when it comes to the cat, but this is getting silly.
