Nice pictures! Good job you didn't try pushing the bike that far around here. You'd have had the views ok, but you'd also have had non stop hills. There's no such thing as flat here!

Nonetheless, that was a pretty heroic push. Did you hear anything more from the RAC in the end?

This was my push. Plus the bit I've missed off to my drive.

There were more hills than I cared for, but having seen your elevation gain on your runs I'm glad I wasn't there!
No nothing from RAC.

Did you at least get to free wheel it down the hills?

What brand of chain was it? I wonder if it was a counterfeit, it is unusual for one to fail. Although, I don't remember chains on my first bikes going rusty which newer ones seem to do.

I've had a split link clip drop off, the split link fall out and the chain drop to the floor but that was on a 175cc and I was only doing 30mph (and I had a spare).

Darren, thankfully yes.

Seeker, Trofeo? It was the first time and last that I hadn't bought a DID chain.

I always get DID, for the lovely gold colour sideplates contrasting with dark, if nothing else
( but they are great quality as well ).

I invested in a link remover / riveter tool a while ago, a Laser 4191, very well made and works well
Got it for less than £50 ordered from local motor factor, price on Laser website was almost double that.

Do chains still come with split links ? Thought they were a no-no these days.

I notice car brake discs seem to go rusty a lot quicker than they used to as well, maybe the materials they use.

Never had a chain badly rust though - but dry riding only and garage is dry..

Just took the sprocket cover off, thankfully the sprockets still there. The gear actuator rod, if that's what it's called on the other hand isn't. Well two bits of it are. The return spring is also fubar. Oh and I found a teenie tiny bit of chain lurking around.

Headlight gremlins are back on the SV. Time to get the front off again and just replace the connector block this time. Strangely they only seem to not function when it's first turned on. Sidelights come on but no headlights until the engine is running.
