Re: Michelin Pilot Road 3's
Very wet weekend in Ireland last weekend, and they only moved once when the tarmac, with standing water on it, changed from one type of surface to another with a section of smooth banding between the two. I was expecting some sort of complaint from the tyres when I saw the change in surface coming, and then it was only the rear that moved by an inch or two. They certainly complain less about crossing white paint than either the Bridgstones that came off, or the Pirelli Diablo Strada I used to have on the SV, both those gave a wiggle in the wet on overtakes as they crossed the centre lines.
Other than that one little slip, the rest of the time I didn't even feel like I had to take account of the wet road surface, planted and grips just the same as they do on dry tarmac. I find they handle very well in the dry too, every sporty tyre grips well in the dry. Do be careful scrubbing them in though, I found it took longer than usual and you can feel them slip about sometimes when scrubbing in, especially when throttling out of tight bends at lean, they just give a slip that feels like a flat spot in the power delivery, then they grip and propel you forwards. It's like having a delay between the twist grip and the back wheel. |

Re: Michelin Pilot Road 3's
HMMM not sure whether to try these or just get a new roadsmart rear at the end of the month.
what do they tip in like? all i want is a slightly faster turning roadsmart. |

Re: Michelin Pilot Road 3's
my worry is people say the roadsmarts have a quicker turn in than the pr2's so if the pr3s are the same its not what im after

Re: Michelin Pilot Road 3's
I can't comment on turn in for your bike, because I have a 190/55/17 PR3 to replace a 190/50/17 BT014, they have certainly improved the turn in on the Daytona, but it is known for a slow turn in on the OEM tyres anyway. A lot of people go down to a 180 on the Daytona, but I can't see the point in that 'cos your just spreading the tyre over a wider 6" rim, and squashing the profile back to something similar to what you took off.
I have no idea what how a 180/55 PR3 on your bike will compare to the 180/55 Roadsmarts |

Well I've just picked up a set of pr3's from wheelhouse. Just got to get them fitted now. My qualifiers are seriously square now!

Good god, they feel different to my dunlops! I'm not sure if they turn in extra quick, or my dunlops were completely sh*gged? Probably a bit of both. Done about 60 miles on them this afternoon. I need to readjust my brain to not tip in so quick.
