I'd say there's around a 100% chance of rain at some point, but up here the threat of rain is there even when it's baking hot outside with no clouds in the sky!

My advice would be to bring the waterproofs for this one, regardless of the weather forecast!

no and balls .
I'll waterproof it up then. I'd heard that before.... but it was a questionable source (graciepants). I hate rain...lucky I've got some brand new storms on, they're the best thing I've bought all year

Anyone got any jump leads they could bring?

Avon Storms are the business - they're going straight onto whatever bike I get next, fo sho!

There really is no guessing what the weather's going to do up here - I went out for a run up to Edinburgh on Sunday, baking hot sun in the morning, thunderstorms and the experience of riding into the jet from a fire hose on the afternoon.

If you've got waterproofs, definitely bring them, if not - definitely buy some!!

There was a 1-piece in Ride magazine this month that was something like £26 and it got 5/5 for waterproof. I'm going to buy one, so I'll try & find the name of it and post it on here.

I still can't get over how good they feel, hopefully it's not just ebcause they're new. Would they work aswell on a different bike?

Nice one, good idea - save me wearing over trousers over my crappy waterproof trousers. I really don't know what kit to wear, if it's boiling my leathers are really the only things that are bearable but if it's going to be wet then my textile jacket's okay but my textile trousers are non waterproof and don't have a removable thermal lining.

Just a quick tip - this stuff works almost as well as the Avon stuff...

I don't have a list, but it will go something like

Normal bike stuff.
Oil just in case. (probably for someone else's bike, I have a honda)
Waterproof oversuit.
pants & socks
2xT-shirt (going for a week)
jeans
trainers
fleece
Wash kit
Spare gloves (plus plastic gloves nicked off a garage)

Camping stuff.
Chain lube taken care of by scotty plus lubetube.

My only worry is how my tyres will hold up...... I reckon I have enough tread, but only just! Front has 2-3mm rear is 2.5mm to 4mm. might be calling on FAB on the way home!

Is that all the way across? I heard scottish roads are actually good so might get away with it but it's up to how you feel as tyres are so important.
