couldnt they have shot him in the shoulder or arm, deliver a non lethel shot disable him and restrain him, or is that to simple.

also recent events just go to prove the ridiculous gun laws in this country dont work, only the criminals have guns oh and coppers who are to frightened to use them.

I'd say because it's risky and inhumane.

Would not have made a difference to the fact that he would still have had a gun and potentially feel forced to shoot back. Also wouldn't make a difference to someone who is willing to take his own life.

Short answer is no.A gun is a weapon of lethal force and you use it to kill someone. It is not practical or realistic to "shoot to wound"

Im 100% behind the police on this one, they were stuck between a rock and a hard place, they didnt have a choice, he wanted death by police and to become infamous.
He was a dangerous man, fact (no mental problems found on an assessment i believe).
Perhaps he was given special 'interest' by the local police throughout his life but probably with good reason.
Cant see how the cops could have handled the end any different.

Would a sniper shooting him with a tranquilzer be inhumane? Something just to knock him out cold so ge could be safely detained.

Lots of issues with that. What if he was allergic to it? What if he had already taken copious amounts of other substances and resulted in overdose?

They don't work instantly.

I don't see why you would be so bent on getting a live subject TBH. You didn't see the SAS going out of their way for that in Iranian embassy.

All this hippy crap makes it harder for police next time. If they'd just shot him then next loony tune will either give himself up or shoot himself without all of fuss.
