Evening People
Just a quick question. Whats the penalty for riding with a tinted visor in the dark? I'm not silly enough to do it as I have a clear one and a carry pouch thingy for it. It's just that a few hours ago I got caught out, I had been out for a little ride and a quick visit to some friends, I didn't think I would need my clear one. I had my dark visor and on the way back, just when it's not quite dark, but not light. 20 mins or so before street lights start coming on. Some nice chaps in an undercover BMW with blue flashy lights decided to catch me out, they were very nice and only gave me a slap on the wrist and said be careful. But it got me thinking as to what "punishment" I could have got for the visor. Points? Fine? Confiscation? I can't find anything official anywhere on what the penalty is.
Cheers

Holiday for the mods today as well? Didnt know you could say "balls" on here.

This site is on the slippery slope, and no ****ing mistake, "anyway."

A particularly ignorant copper up here, PC Bad Apple, made the local papers up here for confiscating a chaps dark visor (during the day) and leaving him to ride home 40 odd miles through the Green Mist Of Midge which IS proper naughty.

Isn't that a bit dodgy in itself though? Riding without a visor?
Even open face helmets, have a flip down, or biggles goggles worn.

I spoke to a Traffic Officer the other day and he explained that he'd never pull someone over for wearing a dark visor on a summers day. The only time he'd ping someone for illegal visor would be if the rider was riding like a d**k and generally beligerent when pulled over.. then he'd be looking for things to charge with.

He also mentioned that if its was chucking it down on a gloomy winters day he'd give someone "advice"...
