I wanted to add that despite how some have responded to this thread it will do no harm for you to write to them and raise your concerns, I think it may be put down to a freak accident as most people separate from their bike during an accident.

It is clear that the fact that these gloves have such an extensive rock hard protector that they did more damage than good in this unique instance, I prefer little hard amour as possible for these reasons.

I hope you get a good response from RST and your man heals well

All the best

alex

Many thanks Alex... I have to admit i`m inclined to agree with you about the protector, the breaks to his wrists are in perfect alignment with the edge of the carbon fibre and i`m sure that has in some way contributed to the damage.

Dave is doing really well thanks and he starts physio tomor so will hopefully be all up and running very soon

Interesting, I don't seem to have seen any surveys conducted but please feel free to hold a poll.

Pretty clear I think. To anyone reading that it would appear that CE approval is not given to motorcycle gloves. It is, a link to the relevant standards has already been posted by me.

Lozzo, you and me have been getting on OK online recently, so I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm really not, so don't get all angry in your response.

But....

DMC: "there is no requirement to mark gloves used for that purpose with the CE mark"

Lozzo: "To anyone reading that it would appear that CE approval is not given to motorcycle gloves"

...No.

I read that exactly as Dave posted it, there is no requirement to mark gloves as CE. I don't conclude from that there there is no such thing as a CE marked glove. Just as there's no requirement to have a helmet with an ACU gold sticker, that doesn't mean you can't get one. There's no requirement for a new car to have ABS brakes.

I can see your point Ralph, but there are a fair few posters here who don't think like you or I. That passage takes some reading to fully understand it, and most people would skim it and think what I posted. It's not very well written and misleading as well as being obviously designed to make me look like I don't know what I'm on about.

I don't wanna join in on this handbag waving but I also read dmc's post exactly like ralph did and that's coming from me who regulary doesn't read stuff properly.

IMO this thread has got into a tit for tat again, it's claires thread and I can't see how this is helping.
