Yeah that's what I'd thought, will get in touch with eBay, as far as I can see they are not fit for purpose.

Presumably we are talking SV,s in which case with the" Yes,get them" group.
Not all bikes are suited for crash bungs as where they are mounted and how can actually result in more expensive damage. i.e On the old triumph sprint they mount on to the front engine lugs and in a hard clatter they can break or crack the engine mounts which is a very expensive repair in comparison to plastics |

Always used them and saved me a few times when I've dropped the bike from 0mph. When I crashed at Rockingham the bung snapped the GSXR fairing where the stem went through it in to the engine mount. However, this was easily fixed and saved the fairing from a lot more damage. Tail unit and nose cone were fine.
I have a new set of R&Gs for the CBR but not had time to fit them yet (I don't want to spoil the fairing really!)

The first time you drop a bike crash bungs will have done their job !! Worth it just for that. Sometimes crash bungs can damage plastics on a fully faired bike, but it's a risk worth taking if you want your radiators intact =)

Got them on my K5 as it's in good nick. As my previous K3 had been dropped prior to my owning it, it seemed a bit like shutting the gate after the horse had bolted.

Mine came with them fitted. Never had them before, but I have always thought about fitting them in the past.

Yep! How I wish I had them when I dropped my bike initially! Would have saved me about 80-100 squid in levers! Paid about 40 on ebay for the sliders. First one broke in half tho when I crashed a few weeks ago. But I imagine the damage would have been 10x worse had it not been for the slider taking the brunt of it. So had new ones stuck on pronto! Taking no chances!

If I'm honest I have never had crash bungs fitted. I do have a cheap set somewhere in my workshop but have never fitted them as ive heard some horror stories about cheap sets, infact i saw an r6 that had a cheap set fitted and was a ball ache for the guy because the bolt snapped.
I've heard good reveiws about the r&g sets but depends if you can afford to have them fitted. |
