Er yes they are unlike a rally, because the AR is not a rally! So many of the usual aspects of what people might expect at a rally, are not there at an AR: things such as bands and stalls selling stuff.

The clue is in the title - it's a Rideout, where people can also pitch a tent and stay the night or two.

Unless, of course, your proposal is something completely different!

No that is exactly what I was thinking, after some pointer from certain Orgers who shall remain nameless, that is exactly the plan.

Somewhere to camp, preferably near to somewhere to eat/drink and not too far from fuel. A route on good roads with fuel stops. That good for you?

EDIT: If you don't like what we come up with feel free not to come, this is why I said about keeping discussion off the forum.

That sounds grand to me!

However your edit is wholly unecessary. Open thread means anyone can add their thoughts. It was just a bit a friendly advice, hence my addition of unless you decide on something completely different.

You need to calm down dear. At the moment you sound like a man on a mission. You forget that I (and Spank to a lesser degree) are the cautious types with this type of organisational thing and you need cautious types to keep your twinkle toes on the ground. You need both sides of the argument!

Why so keen on hosting the ORG AR and not just a GMR? The positive I see to hosting the AR is higher numbers. To me that doesn't outweigh the negatives, but I will help whichever is decided upon.

Edit: To those previous AR hosters reading this, I'm not dissing the AR. I really enjoyed this years one! I just realise to do something on par would take some work.

Of course our attempts to organise something may either spur others with a better idea into action or at the worst save the AR from dying due to nobody tendering.

If nobody tendered then I would definitely say make this the AR. Whatever my reservations, us hosting the AR is better than no AR.

Absolutely. Somebody new, green and keen, who who doesn't know what they are getting into needs to take it on, 'cos none of us veterans will touch it with a barge pole.

You lot of summer 2012 newbies fit the bill perfectly!

Just kidding... you'll be fine, go for it
