You still looking to buy that SRT on the 24th Howard?

Re: Vintage film cameras
I'm kind of vaguely interested but not enough to stay up until 1 minute past midnight tonight to buy it. I'll take a look tomorrow to see if it's still around. Are you thinking about it too?

Re: Vintage film cameras
Possibly. I robbed some bits of a good SRT to help someone out. I don't really need it, but for the price it might be worth it to restore the other to working. I'll probably be using the SRT you sent me this week.

Re: Vintage film cameras
At the sale price and no postage, it's worth it if you want a few bits.
The broken, self-timer lever donor XD5 arrived, along with an unidentifiable plastic lens. (missing the ring in the front) Electrically dead but the shutter fires on B and O settings so mechanically it's sound. Removed the baseplate and battery compartment and found that the wire had disconnected. I might be able to solder it but it's tight to get at. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
Done, £4.50 plus free shipping. Hopefully you can revive the XD, it would be great if that's all the problem was.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Any joy with the XD Howard? A friend bought me a new finder for my Nikon F, this one is in much better condition and has a nice clear viewfinder.

Re: Vintage film cameras
The Nikon F looks nice and in good condition.
I haven't had time to play with the XD5 yet though I did take the timer lever off and put it on the good one. Mirror damper is a pain to replace on the XDs, really hard to get to. I might experiment with taking the lens mount off on the dud one to see if it's easier to access. Did the SRT arrive? Last edited by yokohama; 02-12-21 at 07:56 PM. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
I think the mirror buffer was an issue with my copy, but in the end I stripped it for parts. Fixed a couple of others using bits. The F is OK, but the frame counter isn't working properly. Yeah the SRT arrived really quickly. I've managed to repair my SRT as I had robbed some parts off it.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Well someone got a good deal on the OM10 I picked up earlier in the year, went for £93 with the standard 50mm f1.8, a Super Ozeck 28mm f2.8, working T20 flash and a bag. Really nice, looks like new. I paid about 20 so I can't complain. I didn't realise but there were a couple of others ending at almost the same time.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Film camera prices are definitely still on the up. Sounds like you did well there, just had a quick look at the kit. I've sent a message to WYC to see about trading some gear in against a Nikon F2 with standard prism finder. I've just got in some ID11 developer so I can all my black and white rolls done. I've currently got a Pentax Spotmatic with 55mm f1.8 up for grabs for £35, unless any of you are interested? It's chrome, not black though.
