Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Went out to give the SV's brake calipers a quick clean this morning only to find that when I tried to push the pistons out the seals decided to come along to!, which explained the strange feeling the other day, so I have done a complete caliper rebuild not really what I had in mind for today, just glad I had a rebuild kit and pads in the parts draw.

Agree, the pads had worn into a wedge shape so they must of been like that for a little while!

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
I just rebuilt the my callipers on the GSXR. I was getting drag and it turns out the old rubber had minor swelling.
I bought a cheap Draper tool from Amazon to get the pistons out and it worked a treat. Cleaned up and greased the pistons, new EBC pads and a good bleeding of the brakes and master cylinder and braking was transformed.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Rear brake caliper now striped down cleaned and rebuilt, the pistons were dragging the dust seals along for a ride just like the fronts!.

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Gave the old girl a clean. I used that spray and shine stuff (waterless cleaner), works great on the bike as it never gets that dirty but its useless on the car. Little tip for using it on the bike, spray it onto the cloth not the bike as the spray nozzle is pants and fires it everywhere.
Need to get rear tyre changed for MoT next month really. |

Re: What have you tinkered with today?
Chewy's mirror extenders came in the post today, fitted them this evening.
Hopefully will help me see more than my elbows on the commute in the morning. The only downside I've come across since the bar conversion. |
