Re: Vintage film cameras
Problem with the Dacora is the film release button button. I guess I'll have to take the bottom plate off at least, maybe the top too?
The Ikon problem is the metering consistency. It's going to rain a lot this weekend so I might have a look at one of them. Chinese or Japanese food is no problem by the way. In fact, if all goes to plan I'll be in China for 3 months later in the year and will definitely take a film camera. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
I vaguely remember now! I do most of this on the hoof really, and most of them have slightly different problems. I realise I have no idea how the Contessa LKE (for example) sends the shutter speed/aperture/ISO combo back from the lens barrel to the camera body. The LBE is quite different (focus is is the rearmost ring not the frontmost, plus other stuff) has a pin that is pushed back into the camera body a bit like the rangefinder pin. There must be something as it needs to know how the meter output balances against the settings. I would first check under the top cover and fiddle with the adjuster pot to see if it is intermittent. Dacora, yes I guess! Try googling for these things, there is a lot of info out there.

Can I send over my Yashica 50 f2 for defungusing? (Is that a word?)

Re: Vintage film cameras
Yeah. Let's go for it and experiment. I'll probably keep the 700 purely because it's got lazy man mode, EV compensation and it's black.
So the X300 is up for a swop. It's in pretty good condition, everything seems to work (light seals are a bit tacky but not disintegrating) and is both manual and shutter priority. |

Re: Vintage film cameras
I have some self adhesive foam so can make new seals. What lens has it got? Same address as before? Will pop a roll of film in if you want?

Re: Vintage film cameras
I can give it a look, if you already have the glass out it'd be easier! Hopefully the fungus hasn't eaten the coatings and etched the glass but it's too late now to worry about that, what's done is done.

Re: Vintage film cameras
Don't worry about film. I bought a few rolls in Poundland the other day. I was thinking it was bodies only. Do you want to include lenses?

Re: Vintage film cameras
I reassembled it. Couldn't get the rear element out as its press fit. Didn't try going through the front.
