That's if you get through on the phone too. For a while there was a message saying they were too busy to take calls and then it automatically hung up on you with zero options. Then for a week or two the phone line was just a dead tone. Now they seem to be answering again but it's a very long wait.

They'll probably be taking on workers to catch up on the backlog so the best plan is to get a job and go hunt for your V5 yourself

Second gripe: I found out today that as I am not officially the registered keepr of the GSXR yet as I still have no V5, my insurance isn't technically valid as it states that I need to be the registered keeper. I wasn't aware of this and have been using the bike. So as I supposedly can't use it ( and shouldn't have been ) I decided to Sorn it. So I go to the DVLA website. Options for sorning a vehicle are either using the new keeper slip or the V5 number. I don't have either as the green slip was sent 3 months+ ago to get the V5, which is still not going through and no info as to when it will.

Then the website directs you to phone the DVLA.. something I've had no luck with for a while now. But I tried anyway and actually got through this time eventually! Only to be told that only the registered keeper can sorn a vehicle and as I'm not the keeper yet I can't sorn it so need to keep paying tax until the V5 arrives. Catch 22! They still don't know how long until my application gets attention either.

Having no luck with this bike and the experience is starting to sour. I bought it in March!
always keep the counter slip and never ever let anyone send the main v5 off for you, always insist that you do it.

there are a lot of scumbags out there.

the DVLA should have given you a new V5 by now so it looks like you will have to apply for one.. at a cost. good luck.

I sent a V62 application for a new V5 3 months ago. They wanted me to send the green slip with it. So, they have everything. I have spoken to someone and I don't have to pay as the previous owner screwed up.

Road surfacing. The variety where they coat everything in tar and dump tons of gravel on it. I thought it was bad on the SV/GSXR. However some idiot decided to resurface a lovely flowing section of my push bike commute. Its ****ing horrendous now. Trying to ride a mile of loose gravel trail with skinny 120psi tyres ain't fun. Plus there was nothing wrong with the surface anyway.

It's called top (or surface) dressing.

You will be astonished to learn that it's significantly cheaper than doing it "properly". A petition was started in 2014 to stop them doing it, as you can tell, it was not totally successful.

It might be cheaper but it doesn't last long. They just did a road into our village and people have complained about chipped cars and windscreens.

Loads of it done around Staffs / Derbyshire too, on routes like the A52 which is pounded daily by HGVs. Of course the HGVs just put wheel tracks in the dressing and corrugate it on corners thanks to their mass when braking, so apart from filling in potholes the surface is actually worse to drive / ride on than it was before.
