Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Life has become a sh1teshow.
1. Daughter struggling with mental health issues, brought on by, 2. Divorcing parents (which she foresaw) 3. Covid19 4. Other daughter at uni in Manchester. Hard enough to have to leave her there a couple of weeks ago, but now Manchester under the grip of a corona virus lockdown. 5. Final straw. A letter today giving me 6 months notice to quit my (rented) home of 25 years. The place in which my daughters were raised, and I have lived for more than a third of my life. Just what is the fecking point. |

I can't think of anything to say that doesn't sound glib so I'll keep it simple; I truly hope things improve for you Gary.

Sorry to hear that, Gary - that's awful on all fronts. I hope you can help your daughter turn the corner.

Re: Gripe of the day - What is yours?
Feckin hell Gary that's ****e. Any dialogue to be had with the landlord, insight? Opportunity to buy it if selling it (understand that's likely not an option)?
Doesn't sound likely but if you can find your agreement (or put the onus on them) and the below applies it might give you some breathing space. Tenants who moved in between 15 January 1989 and 27 February 1997 may also have greater rights, if the landlord or agent did not set the tenancy up properly at the start. So if instead of being created as assured shorthold tenancies the tenancy was created as an assured tenancy, where landlords cannot use section 21, again, they are harder to evict.
