And how close you are to the renewal date as well; chance you are desperate and just want a policy . . .

Also, don't keep checking day to day as this will hit the cookie analytics and show them you are interested; giving them idea that you're interested and not to drop the price.
The best way is on the phone to these companies and barter. That's the only way i've had cheaper policies - i now use a local insurance broker as they contact the underwriters directly and can have the conversations.

I use local broker for car insurance and ,when it comes to renewal, premium from insurance company I have been with works out more expensive than a new company the broker recommends ! Also depends which way the wind is blowing when you ask for a quotation !

I've tried the date change to 21 days ahead thing and it reduces it by a whopping £5. I can imagine that has more effect on car insurance where people are more often likely to be reliant on their cars for transport. The biggest change so far is the time of day. Yesterday evening was £50 more than this morning for the exact same info inputted into the quote.

I know that home insurance gets cheaper if the complicated network of data (store cards, apps, cookies, credit history all linked) they have on you shows you've bought fresh herbs at a supermarket in recent weeks before a quote. Apparently as the sort of person who prepares fresh food has also correlated with being more motivated to sort home problems themselves rather than ever claim on home insurance.

I'm going to try quotes at different times on different browsers and see if it gets down to near what the first quote was.

I would simply call one of them, and haggle. That's the way you'll get money off. The comparison sites will only give you the price they set it to - which won't be the best rate possible as they want to maximise margin and most people will buy at screen price.

I got vigorously ploughed from behind earlier. In the car this is, I’ve got whiplash and unbelievably there is no visible damage to my car so I had no intention on notifying the scum cartel - however my old man’s got me paranoid they may have wrecked the crumple zone under the bumper and if I get hit again it won’t do as good a job . I’m not up on cars, what do we think orgo’s?it was a 40 zone she braked about 2 metres away (watched her bonnet dive) from me so probably hit about 30mph.
If it’s a risk I might ask her if she want to pay to get it checked or go via insurance to
Cover the check/repairs

This is correct , I rarely check comparison sites but did this year and they were £200 more expensive on car than what I’d lined up on the phone

Do the rear door gaps look ok and do doors and tailgate / boot open and lock ok ? Some damage can be hidden but floor of boot may be rippled. I know your no claims may be affected even in strong no fault claim, seems silly but it happens.

Making a claim will cover you against any future effects of whiplash. Too many people messing with phones on the road these days and too many distractions with touch screens in vehicles, they may check her phone records to see if she was on phone at time of crash.

never ever never NEVER let someone pay for the damage outwith insurance. if they hit your back end then its their fault. ALWAYS go through insurance.
