i ran race shift pattern on my sv (down for up and up for down) and the brake leaver gripped rather than sliding so it pulled the brake on and bent the leaver which was straightend in one hit with a piece of wood behind it and a bit 8lb sledge hammer .

Considering he was lucky. Seems he literally leaned too far.
