It's a case of time off work for most people I think.

What I might do though is come up the road on the Thursday night after work which would be an 11pm or midnight arrival, have a lie in on Friday morning, and set off Friday lunchtime for Applecross.

Then work from Scotland on the Monday (I just need an internet connection and my phone) then head home after work Monday night.

Just one day holiday allowance then on the Friday.

Yeah, leaving after work we barely made it to Kinlochleven in the pitch dark and ****ing rain, no way could we have done Applecross. GMV in Dumfries on the other hand I finished at 7am on the Saturday and still made the rideout. Now there was a GM that was easy to get to!

Anyway, Friday off work this year, Monday too if I can swing it.

I don't really get to choose when it comes to time off. One downside to my job

But I do get 12 weeks off a year, so can't really complain, but I still do when it stops me attending GM's.

I bumped into the man at the helm of GMIV earlier this week. Good to see you CF.

Applecross is a great venue on the most part, but can totally relate to the distance problem. As much as I wanted to go to explore the borders, that GM was just too far after working Friday til 4pm. Applecross after work is a bit of a trek, even for me but as I'm closest I'll be heading up Friday evening.

Ron, a good point you mentioned there, about arriving in dark and then tackling the hardest part last. Luckily September evenings up here are still light til pretty late on.

So, barring a change of rota at work, I'm in.
If there's anything I can help with gimmie a shout and I will see what I can do.

Yeah, good thing, as I seem to have an unrequited fetish.

Whenever I'm on a motorcycle and I see one of these people standing on the pedals, pedalling for all they are worth, lycra clad backside up in the air with the buns bobbing up and down, I have this urge to reach out a leather gloved left hand, twist throttle with the right hand, and see what noise a 40mph smack makes!
